After spending the previous day bombing it towards the Alps to start our summer alpine trip, we were greeted with not-so-great weather. The weather across the entire Alps looked terrible, so we decided to revisit this favorite town of ours (as there’s always fun to be had there!).
We decided to run from the Chamonix Brévent car park up the side of the valley towards the Flégère lift and, from there, start descending down to Argentière.
The run was fantastic! We managed to stay just under the clouds all day, so the views through the trees across to the impressive south side of the valley were awesome. At the top of the ascent, we stopped for a sandwich just as it started raining. Perfect.

We contoured around the valley for a few kilometers before starting our descent. The single track was superb (I’ll go back and mountain bike along it one day). We eventually made it down to Argentière and caught the bus back to Chamonix center. Back at the van, we grabbed our wash kits and headed for a shower at the leisure center. On our way back through the town center, we stopped at CoolKats hotdog café for some food, then drove up the hill to Argentière to sleep the night in the van!
