A rainy start meant that I left the house later than planned. I ran up the tourist track to cut off a corner of my planned run, as Sarah and Ryan were heading over in the afternoon.
Wind and rain battered me on the tourist track, and after the halfway house, I swapped my soaked vest for my Paramo jacket for some protection from the elements. I summited Snowdon in thick cloud and felt thoroughly unimpressed with the day, as I’d hoped for an awesome outing.

I changed the plan some more and headed along Lliwedd. The descent to Lliwedd was awesome, though hard work in the fog. Running along the ridgeline, I was pleased to get below the cloud and found this fantastic cloud formation as it got blown into the Snowdon cwm. I felt so lucky to see this, as it was forecast to get better, and I really had been in the right place at the right time!

I summited Lliwedd and sat down to enjoy the view. The sun was baking, and I wrung my vest out and dried it in the wind while soaking in the scenery.

I changed and set off, heading down to the Miners’ Track. (Another change of plan, but with the baking sun, I didn’t want to get burned).

I ran back down to Pen-y-Pass and caught the bus from Nant Peris, as I wasn’t enjoying the scorching heat.
It was a good run but sadly cut short due to changing circumstances. Only 20 km, not the 35/50 km runs I’d had in mind the night before! Sometimes it doesn’t all ‘mesh,’ and it’s better to cut it short rather than not enjoy it!
