Sump To Summit

Another overcast day, so we headed to Chamonix. Mum and Michael took the train up to the Gare Montenvers – Mer de Glace. The plan was for them to ride the train up, then take the cable car down to the glacier and explore the Ice Cave, while I took the opportunity to run up the mountain with Doug to meet them.

Doug and I had an amazing run. It rained a bit, but the clouds kept parting, revealing glimpses of blue sky above! We reached the top to find Mum and Mike waiting and soaking in the view. We grabbed a quick hot chocolate at the café before heading down the hill together. On the way, we passed the Buvette des Mottets hut, which offers a great view of the surroundings. We made our way back down to Chamonix and drove home. Once back, I squeezed in another 9km run around Argentière, followed by dinner and a quick beer at Le Stone restaurant. A great day.
