A massive 11pitch VS route was on the cards for today. We woke at 5.45 to leave the Kazbah by 6.20. This way we’d be at the base of the climb for daylight to ensure we used every hour of light. The path was very easy to follow, though El didn’t feel great. At the base, before the first section of scrambling, I spotted deer silhouetted on the route we were supposed to be climbing. They looked beautiful with the sky getting lighter behind them, as the sun rose – Incredible!

At the base of P1, El hadn’t felt good going up the scramble. After much deliberating we decided not to do the climb. She wasn’t feeling good, and although it would be an awesome day out, it would still be there another day! We walked back to the car, and I’m currently writing this whilst enjoying a mint tea on the terrace above the Kazbah – Not a bad life really! (El’s catching up on some sleep).
