Christmas Eve run

I spent the morning at work but managed to leave just in time to squeeze in a run in the Peak District before dark. As I drove toward Winhill, the sun was setting, and golden hour was in full swing. I knew I needed to get up high—fast—to catch what promised to be an epic sunset.

I parked at the bottom of Parkin Clough, the shortest (and steepest) route to the top. It’s taken me around 20 minutes in the past, so I threw on my new VJ I Rocks and legged it. Running through the low-lying mist was surreal—it felt like I was chasing the last of the daylight. I hit the summit in 18 minutes and was completely blown away by the sunset. It was one of those moments where you’re just glad you packed a warm layer so you can stand there, mouth wide open, and take it all in.

After soaking up the view for 10 minutes, I decided to extend the run. I headed toward Hope Cross before looping back down through the main path in the woods. Made it home just in time for a quick turnaround—then straight off to the pub!
