Late Start to the Season, and a Face-First Black Run Descent

It’s been a while since I had skis on my feet! Usually by this point in the season, I’ve managed at least three weekends of skiing — including a long weekend in France — but none of that had happened this time.

The pistes here are in reasonable condition, but the off-piste is, sadly, awful. After a day in the resort on my touring skis, I hired a set of piste skis for the rest of the week.

Skied with my flatmates in the morning. Then got really cold, so I nipped back to the apartment to grab more layers. Ended up skiing solo for a bit, then caught up with everyone later to finish the day together.

The main event? K sliding about 100m down an incredibly steep black run — face first. Poor lad.

Back at the apartment, we cooked dinner and, after a few glasses of wine, called it a night.
