Crevasse Practice and Röstis – Rest Day at Dent Blanche Hut

We woke around 7am, had some breakfast, and decided we might as well go for a wander. The hut toilets were pretty grim, and the terrace hadn’t caught the sun yet – so sitting around didn’t seem that appealing.

We climbed the ridge behind the hut, then headed up the glacier towards an incredible view over the Matterhorn. A short traverse along a snow ridgeline gave us that proper high-mountain feeling without needing to push too hard. On the way back down, at the foot of the glacier, Elinor practised her crevasse rescue skills.

Back at the hut, we shared a rösti and spent the afternoon lounging on the terrace, soaking in the views from what’s apparently the highest hut in Switzerland. Not a bad place to hang out.

We packed our bags to make the morning as slick as possible, ate dinner, and called it an early night. Alarms were set – summit day was next.
