Hello! My name is David Cattell, and welcome to my blog. If you’re reading this, you’ve found my little corner of the internet. I started this blog in 2024 after spending over a decade having incredible adventures in the outdoors. Honestly, I wish I’d started it sooner!

The goal here is simple: to document my adventures so I can look back on them in the future. Some stories will be funny, others will cover my less successful attempts, and some could even be inspiring. Over time, I’ll also write about and document past adventures, hoping that the internet will still be around in 50 years so I can relive those moments!

I’ll mostly be sharing my days in the mountains as they happen. If I stay disciplined, this blog will become a collection of amazing adventures—a personal record of great times and awesome photos!

Why ‘Sump to Summit’? It’s straightforward. I began my outdoor journey as a caver, where the bottom of a cave is often called a ‘sump’. After years of caving, I’ve shifted my focus to mountaineering and climbing. The Sump to Summit blog captures every adventure, from the depths of caves to the peaks of mountains!
